Matter Suggestion

For contact based time entries, e.g. emails and phone calls, Mitimes will suggest matters for you based on the below matter suggestion rules.

In order of priority (1 will override 2), the matter suggested will be:

  • The matter ID in the email subject (if one exists)
  • The most recently selected matter for the same contact

Email subject matter ID detection is an optional feature that is enabled or disabled at the organisation level by a Mitimes Admin. If this feature is disabled for your firm, ignore the 1st rule above.

For document activity time entries, Mitimes will suggest the matter that the document belongs to in your DMS.

Matter Verification

Matters that are suggested for you need to be verified before the entry can be posted, to prevent entries from accidentally being posted to the wrong matter.

To verify that the suggested matter is correct, click the tick next to the matter ID:

Pending New Matter

If you need to record time for a matter that hasn’t yet been created in your PMS, you can create time entries and assign them to Pending New Matter.

Pending New Matter entries will never expire and can be easily found using the Pending filter at the top of your timesheet.

Once the matter has been created in your PMS, you can then update the entries, assign them to the matter, and post them.

Restricted Matters

When searching for a restricted matter that you have access to, click the padlock icon before searching.

After clicking the padlock, search and select the restricted matter as normal.
